Unilateral pulmonary agenesis is a rare birth defect (in 1 in 10,000 to 15,000 newborns) and is found in newborns and later in life. It causes more respiratory distress in the newborn, and some patients die of respiratory failure. Cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal abnormalities occur in about half of patients. Diagnosis is based on computed tomography. We present a clinical observation of right-sided pulmonary agenesis, which is rare in the newborn.
